2026 Jeep Recon EV Arrives With 650 HP and $65,000 Price Tag
Jeep has finally revealed its highly anticipated electric off-roader, and the 2026 Jeep Recon EV is a bold step forward for the brand. This Trail Rated SUV fuses Jeep’s legendary capability with powerful, silent electric propulsion, resulting in an adventure machine that is far more refined and surprisingly quicker than a standard Wrangler.
With two electric motors combining for a massive 650 horsepower, the 2026 Jeep Recon EV delivers sports car performance, hitting 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. However, its high starting price and below-average range raise questions about its success in the current cooling EV market.
Here is a closer look at the performance specs, off-road ability, and the context of that hefty $65,000 price tag.

Performance and Capability
The 2026 Jeep Recon EV boasts a level of performance surprising for a heavy 4×4. The Moab trim will be the first model available.
| Metric | Specification |
| Horsepower | 650 hp |
| Torque | 620 lb-ft |
| 0–60 MPH | 3.6 Seconds |
| Launch Trim Price | $65,000 (Moab Trim MSRP) |
| Moab Trim Range | 230 Miles |
| Max Range | 250 Miles (Late-availability trims) |
| Fast Charging | 5% to 80% in ~28 Minutes |

Off-Road Dominance
The Recon is instantly recognizable as a Jeep, featuring a seven-slot grille, removable doors, and a boxy profile. Crucially, it earns the Trail Rated badge, underscoring its off-road legitimacy.
The Moab trim enhances this capability with:
- Ground Clearance: 9.1 inches.
- Tires: Standard 33-inch tires.
- Drivetrain: Electronic locking differential on the rear axle.
- Selec-Terrain: Includes Rock mode, specific to the Moab trim, alongside Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand modes.
To enhance the open-air experience of the Wrangler, the Recon gets removable doors and an optional Sky One-Touch powertop.

The $65,000 Question
The biggest obstacle facing the 2026 Jeep Recon EV is its starting MSRP of $65,000 (excluding destination). This price places it directly in the premium EV segment, competing with more luxurious, street-biased rivals like the Cadillac Lyriq or Audi Q6 e-tron.
The price is nearly identical to the faster, more luxurious, and longer-range Wagoneer S EV ($65,200). It is also about $12,000 more expensive than a comparable Wrangler Rubicon.
Jeep is relying on one key factor: the Recon has no direct rivals. No other electric SUV at this price point offers Trail Rated capability and features like removable doors. Whether there is sufficient demand for a high-priced, high-performance electric off-road vehicle remains to be seen. Jeep expects to release cheaper trims after the Moab, but the timing is currently undisclosed.
