2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV Unsold Inventory Hits Record Highs

82% of 2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV Inventory Remains Unsold

We are just weeks away from the year 2026, yet Dodge dealers are facing a massive problem. A shocking amount of “new” 2024 inventory is still sitting on their lots. The 2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV unsold inventory crisis has reached a critical point, with data showing that supply is far higher than demand.

The Numbers Are Alarming

According to a recent study of 2.6 million new car listings, the situation for the Dodge Hornet Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is dire. As of December 2025, 82.1% of the 2024 model year inventory is still available.

To put that into perspective, the industry average for remaining 2024 models is just 0.4%. This means the Hornet is sticking out like a sore thumb while other cars have long since been sold.

Why Is Nobody Buying It?

There are two main reasons why the Hornet PHEV is gathering dust: Pricing and Competition.

The base Hornet GT is a great deal at roughly $29,995, offering 268 horsepower. However, the Hornet R/T PHEV starts at $41,645. While it offers 288 horsepower and 32 miles of electric range, that price tag puts it in dangerous territory.

At over $40,000, the compact Dodge is competing directly with luxury brands. Buyers can get a BMW X1 or a Mercedes-Benz GLA for similar money. When given the choice between a Dodge and a BMW, most customers are choosing the badge with more prestige.

A Dark Future for the Hornet?

The sales figures paint a grim picture. Total Dodge Hornet sales for 2025 are down by 45%, with only 8,486 units sold (including both gas and hybrid models).

Adding to the mystery, the Dodge website does not yet list a 2026 model year for the Hornet, even though most other manufacturers have already switched over. With tariffs making the car even harder to sell and inventory not moving, we have to wonder: will the Dodge Hornet survive to see 2026?
